Yame in Fukuoka is one of the few regions in Japan with a reputation for gyokuro that stands next to Uji.
Dentō hon gyokuro is a protected designation used there, with requirements for how the plants are shaded and how the leaf is handled. The shading is done with natural materials rather than synthetic cloth, which is slower and more expensive than the standard method.
