Gyokuro means jewel dew. The plants are covered for the last two to three weeks before picking, which cuts most of the sunlight and keeps the sweetness high and the astringency low.
Thick in the mouth, intensely sweet and savory, closer to a broth than to what most people expect from tea. Picked once a year.
Brew it cool, and drink it from a small cup. Let it sit on the tongue rather than swallowing straight away. This is not a tea for thirst.
